Lima, OH - On October 27, Crime Victim Services announced its participation in Healthy Love 365.
HL365 is hosting a series of community discussions the week of November 1-5, revolving around reducing relationship violence
and promoting healthy, loving relationships with ourselves and across the community.
Join us virtually and in person as we engage with professional and community speakers about what it takes to love ourselves and each other better and reduce violence in Lima's black community.
Crime Victim Services began Healthy Love 365 in 2017 along with several organizations
and faith communities dedicated to providing culturally specific and trauma responsive
services to black survivors of sexual violence in Allen County. While this is still the focus
of the partnership, we recognize that the work of anti-sexual violence is rooted in the
work of anti-oppression. In order to successfully address sexual violence in the black
community within Allen County, we must also address issues of systemic racism. Systemic
racism, declared a public health crisis in the City of Lima and Allen County by Lima City
Council, affects all members of our community and deserves action from all levels of
government and civil society.
The parties share a commitment to recognize and honor the voices of communities of
color and their resiliency as we work toward the goal of preventing sexual assault and
responding appropriately to community members who have been victimized. Current
partners include: AKA Sorority Inc. Sigma Mu Omega; Bradfield Community Center;
Crime Victim Services; Fresh N Faded; One Church Lima; Health Partners of Western
Ohio; Lima African American Chamber of Commerce; and UMADAOP.
