National Non-Profit Day August 17

Every August 17th, National Non-Profit Day provides an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the vital work of non-profit organizations across the US. This day highlights the significant contributions of community, state and national organizations dedicated to addressing societal challenges and bridging the gaps in systems.  Crime Victim Services is one of over 60,000 charities registered in Ohio, and partners in a strong and collaborative network of local non-profits in the Allen and Putnam County communities.

Non-profit organizations focus on creating social value rather than generating profit. Non-profit missions are often driven by a deep commitment to serving communities and advocating for change. On this day, we honor the consequential efforts of Board members, volunteers, staff members, and donors who work behind the scenes to make a difference.  Crime Victim Services is proud and humbled to share in service with over 80 volunteers and Board members and to be supported in its work by 85 individual, business, and community donors.

“National Non-Profit Day is not just a day for reflection but also a call to action. It reminds us to support these organizations through donations, volunteering, or by being a champion for their causes. By doing so, we contribute to building a stronger and more compassionate society,” said Amy Wiechart-Bayliff, executive director of Crime Victim Services.

Crime Victim Services is a community of advocates and change makers driven by a commitment to ending violence and oppression.  “We strive to make a positive impact and advocate with integrity, while living out our values of collaboration, belonging, compassion & growth,” said Ryn Wolfe Farmer, deputy director.

The mission of Crime Victim Services is simple, to help victims prevail over the trauma of their victimization by assisting and advocating for safety, healing, justice, and restitution. But the vision is big, cultivating a community free from violence and oppression. And it is by living out their values on a daily basis, both within and outside of the agency walls that they believe that vision will become reality.

“As we celebrate National Non-Profit Day, I invite you to join me in recognizing the significant impact that non-profit organizations have on our lives and commit to sustaining the essential work they provide in our communities,” said Wiechart-Bayliff.
